My first EGS was a Grand Picasso exclusive C4 which took a bit getting use to but after a few days dove it with no problems since then bought another GP4 exclusive, I then bought a VW golf bluemotion with a 7speed ESG which I must admit was ultra smooth but did not have a "Paddle" gear change. My daughter was so impressed with the ease of the ESG box she bought a VW tiguan saying " why would anyone buy a manual after using a EGS box". In the mean time my wife bought a Skoda Citigo again with a ESG (I have to say the Skoda is such a great car to drive unbelievable amount of room for its size and giving around 69 mpg and turning a sixpence and super value for money ). I bought a 2007 Berlingo Desire till I could find a Top of the range Berlingo with a ESG which did take some time but I did find one with Modutop, SatNav, Parking Sensors etc and has the " Paddles" which a find better and safer.
I guess the bottom line is You need to drive a ESG for a day or so to appreciate it but other than the EGS box I prefer my 2007 for more space
