Tiny square transponder in the corner of plastic bit. Swap everything inside housing into new key.

Hi Ewanm,
I snapped a key on my old Berlingo, I borrowed my wife's key and went to the local timpson who quoted £40 as it was a transponder key, I asked for a key to be cut without the chip (cost £10) took it home tried it but unsurprisingly it didn't work, I noticed the new Key had a red pull sliding section for the chip, I carefully cut open the broken key fob removed the chip ( Phillips branded about 3mm wide about 1 cm long) and fitted it in the slide out section of the new key, it worked perfectly and was still in use when I traded up.

It seems a funny set up with the blade separate.
