Hi Patch,
If you know of a similar solution that has dab as well , I would be interested in that, all I could find was FM based solutions which as far as I've been told can have quality and interference problems.
Please keep me posted how you get on.

Well I went for the Kenwood DPX-406DAB after looking at Kenwoods website. It gives you DAB+ Bluetooth streaming and hands free phone calling, USB (with a 1amp charging output) and AUX-in. There are subwoofer RCA ports on the back and dedicated subwoofer control on the head unit, which will come in handy after my recent subwoofer installation exploits. Went for the double din, and bought all the necessary wiring harnesses to enable the steering wheel controls of both the right hand stalk for controlling the central display on the berlingo and of course the head unit music control stalk.

Great stuff, are you still able to access the menu for things like setting the time etc ?

Both stalks (for the sound system and trip computer) worked immediately with the harness adaptor. You know what, despite all my tests I haven't tried changing time yet!

Mark just tested the clock and was able to change the time and date by following the process explained in the connects2 documentation. Smile

That's great, access to the menus was one of the main reasons I didn't want to consider changing the original unit.
I've got some questions if you don't mind
How do you rate the Kenwood ?
Does it come with a external mic ?
What were the part numbers and prices of the lead an facia adaptors that you used ?
Any chance of a photo the Kenwood in situ ?

Sorry to be so needy, I'm just well up for doing this or something similar with a double din fitting.

Thanks for all the info,
Mark

I'll get the info for you. In the mean time here is a photo as requested. For my main purpose I rate the Kenwoods bluetooth phone capability highly. It does come with a microphone for you to position where you like in the front of the car and people say the quality of the call on the other end is very good too. I also like the subwoofer controls from the head unit - not only for controlling its volume but also what frequencies it will hand over to the sub to deal with and one or two other bits I need to understand more. The chrome effect big round knob on the radio front compliments the berlingo chrome effect air vent surrounds on the dash.

If I was to be critical I would say some of the buttons feel a little cheep in the way you press them they feel plasticy clicky; the big round button wheel in the middle is a touch too sensitive when using it to select menu options; and the the brightness of the screen is not bright enough during the day for my liking. The Kenwood radio comes with a double din facia trim/surround which does not fit the berlingo hole perfectly and leaves a slightly ugly gap between the radio and the heater panel below. Especially as there is a curve to the berlingo dash are there. Fortunately you can buy an audioleads or Connects2 facia trim which has the perfect curve and dimensions for that. I will also get the details of that part too.

That's the gear selection - notice the lack of gear knob?
