No Ambient Temperature
#1
I seem to be missing the Ambient temperature display on my 2008 Multispace XTR. There is definitely a sensor fitted under the driver mirror but there is nothing showing in the display. Is this a symptom of an unserviceable temperature sensor? The reason I ask is that on my previous M59 type Multispace, when the temperature sensor went unserviceable there were "dashes" in  the display but in this case there is nothing showing at all?

I've had one go bonkers a couple of years ago. Ambient always showed 15 C when I started the car and slowly, over 15 minutes or so, marched up to over 40C and stayed there. Replacing it solved the problem. They can probably act up in a number of ways.

I thought it probably would be the sensor as there cannot be much else in the system. So I must just be "lucky" Wink  in the fact it has failed on my previous M59 model and now on this B9 model!

So, having just received a new sensor in the post today, I went and had a quick look at access for the sensor on my Berlingo. It looks like you have to take the whole rear cover off the driver's side mirror [unlike on my old M59 Berlingo where you had a small access panel on the underside of the mirror] So has anyone on here replaced the ambient temp sensor on a B59 type Berlingo? Any tips for removing the rear cover? The looks like there is a slot in the corner that a screwdriver would fit into, so is there some sort of release catch in there?

If I remember you prise the mirror out. It's held on the back with clips. With the mirror removed you can remove the outer shell by moving the clips which are fitted behind the mirror. I'm not sure how much of this you need to remove, I painted my shell so had to remove all of it.

Well, I changed the ambient temperature sensor today and still no temperature reading on the multi function display Sad  . It is just blank in the top right hand corner of the display where the temperature reading should be, so it looks like I might need to try another display unit or are there back light type LED lamps that can be replaced?

Drivers door loom faulty. Always the temp sensor that shows first. Replaced several looms under warranty or just repair.

So if it might be the door loom at fault does anyone have a wiring diagram, so at least I know what wires to check? Thanks.

So where does the loom actually fail, is it inside the conduit at the door pivot point??

So bumping this thread up to the top again, this has been on my "to do" list for a while but as not essential it went on the back burner. While it might seem like a broken loom/wire at first I haven't been able to locate any wire damage/open circuit. There are a couple of things that make me think it might not be wiring. Firstly I actually had the ambient temp sensor fail in my M59 Multispace and when it failed there were actually two dashes "--" when the ambient temperature should be but in my present vehicle [B9 Multispace] the display is just blank where the ambient temperature should be. The second thing is that the last few mornings when going out for my early shift starts, it has been a bit chilly and I have been getting the "Risk of Ice" message in the multi function display when I first start up, which I am guessing would be generated by the low temperature sensed by the ambient temperature sensor, so surely the wiring must be OK?

Does anyone have any experience of this happening? Could it be either the the multifunction display is not working in the top right corner where the ambient temperature is normally displayed?

Is there a facility to switch off the ambient temperature display? [via a lexia type device?] I'm thinking maybe the ambient temperature failed in the past and rather than have dashes on the MFD someone turned it off?
