squealing noise low speeds
#1
having another problem now defiantly not the pads and discs they have been dismantled cleaned up etc

driving at low speeds forwards and reverse I get a squealing noise

at idle there is a noise coming from the n/s press the clutch in it goes away

car has done 45k had a full clutch kit replaced at the main dealers  8k ago due to release baring failure

only thing I can think of is gearbox has anyone else had similar problems

Sounds like release bearing if you press clutch and noise goes away..I had a new cluctch fitted to my old combo a week later release bearing making a noise, took it back fitted another clutch, week later same prob but only now and then? in the end I lived with it,it lasted 6 years now van sold,

surely release bearing wouldn't go soo quickly

Mine did like I said lasted a week, that's cheap parts again I suppose.some time better paying that bit more for OE parts.

If you are the type of driver that sits in traffic in gear with clutch pedal down, then it won't last long, and to be honest, I would expect a clutch to last longer that 45K.

It is important to replace the clutch guide tube & the bearing fork when the clutch is changed. Both these parts are very cheap, but often overlooked.
If either is not 100% then a premature bearing failure can occur very quickly.
Valeo put a bulletin notice in their clutch kits to let you, know this.

Why would a clutch release bearing make a noise when the clutch is not being pressed? Surely it's not in service until you press the clutch pedal. I thought release bearings made a noise when you press the pedal and the bearing is thus loaded and rotating.
O/P you say you have a squeal when you move and there is also a noise when the car is idling.Forgive me if I misunderstand - is it the same noise?

Just another quick thought. You've just had discs and calipers worked on and you now have a squeal at low speed. Is it possible a calipers is still sticking on - you might hear it at low speed but then the noise might be drowned out at higher speed. Can you tell if one brake is getting hotter than the rest? Does the car easily roll when pushed with the handbrake off? Might be worth a check.

the clutch kit was replaced at the main stealers

the noise is more of a rumble at idle goes away when clutch pedal pressed

deffo not release bearing

squeal is at low speeds and only in gear not coasting

Sounds like something in gear box then,  if it was wheel bearings or brakes would do it if in gear or coasting,
