1.9d engine conversion
#1
Hi everyone, im new here so im sorry if this is a repeat thread (probably is) ive aquired a 2005 berlingo 1.9d with what looks like a dead engine. Oil in the header tank. What would be the best engine with the least work that would improve power ect. Obviously staying diesel is the most logical option. Is it a hard task to fit a 2.2 hdi unit? Mounts ect.

Thanks in advance and apologies for repeat thread

2.2 is a completely different animal as it's a common rail engine. Easiest swap would be XUD 1.9 turbo as it's basically the same engine but turbo/intercooled.

Another 1.9 or 1.9TD as all the HDi engines are common rail and open up a whole load of fun rewiring issues. The 2.2 would be a pig as it's totally different , and the early ones are troublesome and full of emissions gear too.
