i have gearbox oil seeping from side of gearbox just above the filling plug i seem to have pin holes in this location are they there for a reason as just above them i have encrustation and thats where it seems to be coming from if anyone can help it would be appreciated

Hi, From memory it made of alluminium so you may be getting it's form of "rust" and leaking. Think you need to clean it up well to see properly. There are a variety of metal repair pastes that may help. I assume it's not actually leaking from the drive shaft oil seal?

I would have thought that the part would be called the "gearbox end cover". I would buy a new gasket then remove the cover to fully inspect it (esp. the inside surfaces) for holes. It might just be a leaking gasket.

If its leaking where the black line is drawn looks like you need a new one,just nip it into a garage they will tell you
