Anti pollution

Ive got an anti pollution warning up in my 2009 1.6 75bhp Berlingo. I'm changing air and fuel filters (due anyway) and thought I might clean out the egr valve while I'm in there. I know there are a few possible reasons for this alarm, but I want to get basics done first. The problem is that I can not see how it is possible to undo the clip between the egr valve and the heat exchanger capsule. It appears to be impossible - I can't even see the damn thing.
Any advice would be welcome.

is it the clip between the egr and metal pipe. ? if so on my 1.9d I loosened it with a small screwdriver at the joint and it sprung apart . Refitted it with a pair of nail removing ? (don't know the proper name for them ) pliers and it clipped back into place.

I tried a search on gooooogle  "egr pipe fitting clip" and various images came up that will give you a idea how to remove them

Thanks brodfather - but the problem isn't the clip itself, but actually getting to the clip down behind the engine. I'm wondering if I could achieve anything useful by taking off the electronics/actuator and getting in that way.

I  cant really help you as I am not familiar with the 1.6 set up in that area , no doubt someone will be along soon who will know

do your fuel filter first, egr valve is a pain to get to. first time I had anti pollution it was just the filter
