Hi all
Just picked up my new berlingo XTR airdream EGS6 Today, Comparing against the 90/110 XTR the only thing Missing is the alloys and raised suspension with under body protection, but everything else is included, and it also has extra equipment, Esp,Cruise Control, Hill Assist and Engine Stop Start all work ok, the engine stop start system is a bit annoying as its a bit Keen, as soon as you are at junctions the engine is off, but restarts in seconds, this can be disabled if required Via a Dash Button, as I had been using Full Autos, I find the EGS System not Very smoooth in fact Very Jerky to be honest, thats mainly in Auto, in manual I have learned to back off the Accel Pedal a bit.
I am a bit dissaponted really, as reports on here say the EGS6 is smooth, I dont find it to be, in fact it upsets the wife a bit with its Flat spotting while it changed gear if heavly accelerating, it tries to jump to many gears from 1 - 3 and thats causes a big flat spot.
But I am just trying to tell you what the car is like, it has a nice little spolier on the tail gate also, cannot complain really as I got a good Deal from Citroen.
any questions I would be gladly to answer them.

Welcome to the forum, Digger.
A Berlingo that can be driven as an auto? A Berlingo with a spoiler? What is the world coming to?
(Whoops. Wrong emoticon. I really meant or  or :justno: or :dislike: or even )
Seriously, we'll all be wanting to hear more about it - especially your fuel economy figures on this new super frugal Berlingo.
And of course we'll be wanting to see pictures of the spoiler!

Hi Digger . we test drove the same model last week and agree completely with you . In auto setting the gear changes were very slow and slurred, roughly akin to dabbing the brakes hard at the point of change just when you are trying to accelerate ! Using the flappy paddles to change gear like a clutchless manual that it in fact is, transformed the car with changes very fast indeed. Liked the 6 speed box too.
Dealer says the car is actually faster and more economical than the equivalent manual . I agree with you on the spoiler - how about some custom flames down the side or a large chrome exhaust to complete the look !! Berlingos with 'street' cred-whatever next?
Seriously though, all the best with the new car, just need to brush up your Schumacher flappy paddle gearbox technique!

Quote:Dealer says the car is actually faster and more economical than the equivalent manual .
For the record, the official figures are:
Maximum Speed:
Manual: 100 mph
Airdream EGS6: 103 mph
0-62 mph
Manual: 14.3 seconds
Airdream EGS6: 14.3 seconds
Economy (combined figure)
Manual: 53.3 mpg
Airdream EGS6: 56.5 mpg
But I don't know whether those figures are for the EGS driven as an automatic or with the paddles!

Ok thanks for the quick replies, as the car has only done 70 miles, will report back on the MPG after 1000 mls, at the moment its returning 48 urban ( with stop/start switched off) and on the motorways @ 60 mph 54.. it looks like the gear changes at 2200 rpm so I try to watch or anticipate it as to back off the revs a bit while gear change, this apears to improve it somewat, and yes the Car also apears to be a bit Nippy, compared to the XTR 90 manual I test drive a while back.
oh and it does not have Day time running lamps also.
is there any Citroen tecys on here who can tell me if this can be enabled in the BCI as there is no way of switching them on in the Config menu system ??
if so are they side lights DTRL or Dipped bean

I'm finding that over time the car seems to change gears even more smoothly in Auto mode-maybe I'm either getting better at driving it-or just getting used to it, but passengers say it's very smooth . Any EGS owner I spoke to agrees its good.

Hi Digger, I am new to this forum so I hope I am doing it right.
I came accross your posting when doing a search on the net for info on the new e-Hdi. I hope you are happy with yours and it gives you many years of service. I now have my second berlingo and I suppose because they are so damn practical when I look at other MPV's they never seem to cut the mustard. The Berlingo I have now is the Mk 3 version XTR 110 on a 59 plate and I am going to replace it in September with another Berlingo (No.3) but I have one nagging question and was wondering if you could help.
My Berlingo at 70 mph is doing about 2500 rpm in 5th gear and it always seems like it needs another gear. Could you tell me what revs your car is doing at 70 mph in 6th gear so I can see if it is less ?. I find the clutch on my car a delight compared to the Mk 2 I had before which was very heavy but now getting older and suffering leg problems this new auto version is a brilliant new idea I think.
Kind regards.

Sry for the delay just notice your post, will get the info for you and post on here, Mine is a 6 speed egs and Happy as larry with it as I suffer from MS, So the car is perfect all round, the only thing I would say agains it is the power, comming from a 110 bhp Xara pic and that was fast, to a 90 EGS is getting used to, but as the car is bedding in all works perfect, I would not be without a EGS now it is very Good.
In the Snow we had this year I had Some snow tyres fitted to it together with the traction control (ESP) it was it was a dream, if you want to drive like schumaker then it has that facillity for you to go manual, as I prefer to go Man on motorways as it stops gear eratic changing, cruise and speed limiter is also fitted as standared on XTR,s and that annoying Stop/start crap that I turn off always.. will get back to you
