My 2004 HDI did this for ages, 2 years or more. It's had new top mounts, a strut and a two springs. It had drop links two years ago, supposedly quality items. It still did it. I ignored it, 3 garages couldn't find the noise nor could the MOT man.
About 3 weeks ago, it started rattling badly as well as its usual wandering left a bit. Obviously the rattling was the drop links. I stuck a pair of TRW ones on from GSF...
Every single noise gone, and it drives straight as a die now.
Weird, but true. It's like a different vehicle.

Today I took the car to a garage for tracking and for check the "pulsing" of the steering wheel under load. They are saying possibly steering rack or pump. Less likely pump but I will check the price of a pump and change it if its not too difficult. Bleeding the system is the same like on the brake? I have a hand held pressure bleeder, should it be easy with that.
