#1
Hi guys I recently bought a 2001 1.9d multispace and it has failed mot on bump stops. Under inspection they are totally decayed. I have bought replacement ones however I am unsure of how to remove old ones any help would be much appreciated. thanks in advance

Jack up car

Remove Wheel

Remove lower pinch bolt

Split lower Ball joint and remove from hub

Undo clamping bolt at top of hub

Spread clamp

Undo three top mount bolts

Remove shock absorber/spring complete

Use spring compressors to compress spring

Remove strut top nut

Remove top mount

Remove old bumpstop

Refitting is the reversal of removal

Hmm it seems I have a different model. There are no springs it is a torsion bar setup and bump stop seems to be just hanging above swinging arm

OK so it turns out that the mot fail wasn't due to the bump stops (wasn't very clear on the fail sheet) turns out after retesting it is infact the square axle bushings. Any tips on replacing? Is it a big job?

I'm not sure what the square axle bushings are. Do your rear wheels look vertical when seen from behind?
If they look like /-------\ or \-------/  then it sounds like a axle replacement.
