Aren't Dealers Funny?
#11
Thanks people the web search is limited to 500 mies, but dealers can be 650 miles from me. Also the search only turned up 2 XTRs, bith 90bhp rather than the 115bhp that I would like. The email address will be very useful though. I will try that. I am not in need of finance.

If you hadn't tried this already a trick I do on searches is, you are in the Shetland's and you can only search 500 miles radius, find a postcode say in Glasgow or Manchester and use that so your search reaches further.
Are we there yet????? Huh

I bought my Berlingo off a Peugeot dealer in Derby (3 hours away) after searching for months. Had it not been 'the one' I was looking for I wouldn't have bothered. Dealer wasn't that interested in doing business, Vehicle was in a clear out event so price was non negotiable and the person I dealt with didn't turn in on the day I went down to pick the vehicle up.

To insure the Vehicle I was told to take advantage of a Free 7 day cover form Peugeot. Phoned the number, Asked 400 questions, Was put on hold for 10 mins only to be told I couldn't be insured and the guy on the phone tried to end the call. After demanding an explanation I was told because Im S/E delivery driver they wouldn't insure me long term so wouldn't insure me at all, Even for just a day.

When I got there, Did the paper work with the apprentice salesman and was then presented with a vehicle with a smashed fog light. Despite been 1pm on a Saturday, No one from the service team or management were available to decide what to do so had to wait for the service manager to called only to be told just take it and call into the same dealer up here to get it fixed.
Fair enough I thought, got it home and Monday morning went to the local branch of the same dealer only to be met with ''We can't touch it, Its a Citroen, Not a Peugeot'' Yet I've got all this paperwork with your dealers name on about warranties and buying used from this dealer and your saying you cant touch another manufacturers vehicle?
Ended up loosing my rag at that point and took it to the nearest Citroen Dealer and paid for the repair and sent the bloody bill back down to Derby.

Never had anything to do with the dealer again and have no intention of doing so until just this week when the phone rang asking if I'd like to book it in for a service? Er 6 hour round trip for an oil change? Don't think so love!
She then confirmed my address which was right and couldn't seem to grasp the distance between us.
She then said 'well can I find I closer branch' to which I responded not to bother as they were a waste of space and didn't want to know.

Defiantly won't be dealing with them again. Local Citroen dealer is not much better so will have to stick to using the Citroen dealer on the Tyne from now on for major work. Servicing just gets done at Kwik fit which is on my doorstep.

I can confirm Peugeot dealers are even worse. I had a Pug Partner and after a very poor experience with STARTINS decided I would never ever visit a Peugeot dealer again let alone buy one.
Citroen main dealer in Brum were very obliging but as thick as two short planks. Found a nice XTR 115 without CC - said I'd buy it if they fitted the cruise - agreed deal and paid deposit - they then said they could not fit the CC - 'too complicated' but agreed to give me all the bits and give me £500 off the price. Fitted the bits myself in ~20minutes and 'lighty' switched it on for £40. It amazes me that main dealers are quite so inept - I'll never be using another.

I have been fairly underwhelmed so far. I think most dealers would rather I didn't trouble them, and if I say it myself, you couldn't get a much easier guy to deal with then me. I just ask the standard questions.

Citroen Redditch are proving somewhat better and I may soon be the owner of a shiny hearse for midgets (black XTR). If it all goes tits up there is a Fiat Doblo for much less £s and only a few more miles not a million miles away. It's blue, which is a shame. Post office red would have been excellent. I could have made a living delivering parcels!

Am I allowed to say Midgets and Tits on this forum?

Have a drive of the Dobbin before ordering one. I had the misfortune to hire one for a while, it was nasty, just nasty.
