Flies in airvents
#1
Hi, just joined this forum as I am the proud new owner of a 2009 berlingo L1. The van is great and drives very well except we have a very odd problem. Every 2 or 3 days a bluebottle type fly will appear from the vent for the windscreen. Its not the same fly because some have been squashed and others out the window, today was the 4th or 5th time its happened.

It does have a slightly strange smell inside, a bit moldy or damp maybe, could it be something is dead inside the engine compartment, maybe a bird or something, not had time to look yet, but how would a fly get inside the vent system in the first place, how does it get past the filters?, does it have a pollen or other filters, there isn't any air-con on it.

Once we get more time I'm going to look to put cruise control on it and get the AUX activated on the stereo but the fly thjing is annoying me at the moment.

Thanks, Peter.

St thing to do would be to change the pollen filter, it's up above the clutch pedal & quite fiddly, if anything has died or is nesting, this is the most likely place you will find it .

Thanks, I've watched a couple of videos on how to get to the pollen filter, I was thinking of sticking a compressor airline up there and blowing anything back out that might have got in, good idea or bad?

Will be ok if you keep the pressure low

2 more flies today, they seem to come out after an hour or so when its nice and warm inside. To be truthful I'm not 100% where they come from, they just seem to appear on the windscreen as if by magic. I also strayed above the 50 limit on the M5 this morning trying to swat the little git, not happy if I was caught.
