[Engine] Removal
#1
I have a dead 1.6 petrol engine in 'Kenny' my pet Berlingo.  Sad
I also have a 'known to be good' 1.6 Petrol engine sat in my garage.  Smile
I have however been told that the whole engine/box drivetrain has to come out through the bottom of the bay, which ia A) Too much hassle and B) Not viable in the space I have.
Is it really not possible to take out just the engine in the 'traditional' method?
Please say it is as it's going to be the difference between a nice retirement as a Holiday home car in France or a quick call to the scrappies.
Kenny's life depends on YOU!

Nah you should be able to pull it from the top if you had the crane to do it. Also this isn't Ford, like BMW if you wanted to pull the engine forward, the front facia panel is bolted rather than welded. Best to ask a guy EddieGTI or something like that. A guy who recently swapped a GTI into his van.

Can I ask you how did the TU5JP4 die, lost compression, hole through the block?

PO had carried on driving after a hole appeared in the heater feed pipes.
Cooked the motor.

Ah damn, sorry to hear but this is why you should keep an eye on the temp gauge. And yes they ain't responsive, can jump instantly to more than you thought when it updates. ES9 J4S that motherfucker or find a nice XU10 J4RS
