Adblue consumption

Recently bought an XTR100 BLUE , be obliged if any other members could inform me of the consumption level , hope I have not made a mistake buying this model with the hidden cost of using adblue. A few other owners I have chatted to are equally concerned with the extra costs .Any comments welcome .

We just topped up a 308 yesterday at 32000 miles with a 1.6hdi engine , it was its second time, so basically they seem to do about 16000miles on a tank full, takes about 10 litres to refill.
We bought 20 litres from euro car parts for @ £22 +vat.
So not expensive really, & you can just pour it in yourself , no computers or tools required.

Bought Adblue in Morrisons supermarket locally , was £11 for 10 litres and bought a couple to make sure I had adequate at hand when required.
Not sure how much main dealer car before I bought it but had to put in 5 ltrs last week , will start topping it up when I refuel and try and work out consumption of adblue.
Getting 52/53 locally hoping as it settles down it will increase a bit , hoping to get the chance to test long distance mileage soon on planned trip down south .
Still going through the new car experience looking for any problems , natural I suppose !!!

I'm just about to buy a new blue euro 6 van, when you refill the ad blue do you have to reset a counter or is it a simple top up job?

Hello,

The ad blue filling tank is located next to the diesel filler, very easy to do just remember it can cause corrosion and irritation. Should have a counter that you need to reset.

There isn't a counter to reset, but warning lights when low. Adblue as stated available at Morrisons £11 for 10ltrs....I have used about 5 litres in 3500 miles but don't know if it was full when new.
Be warned, adblue has a shelf life of about 18 months, check expiry date when buying, so not worth stocking up with it.
Down side of adblue apart from extra cost, fuel tank smaller so range is less. My 2011 one would do 650+miles, the new one, I am starting to panic at 500 miles.

We have found that the counter, or low level warning sign , can take upto 50 miles to reset, so don't panic if it doesn't go off straight away.
