Mirrorlink Update May Be On The Way!

And it will finally have carplay compatibility!

Just got off the phone with Citroen UK about when carplay was going to be introduced as an update for us poor iphone users as it appears it is now available on the 2016 Multispace.

Currently Citroen and Peugeot have stopped updating all mirrorlink devices in the current guise until they have found a solution to the problems they have had with the 7" touchscreen. It was hinted to me however that when the new update arrives, it will have the Carplay function as currently seen on other models like the Cactus and 108 etc.

Typical mine is in for its first service this week and the update won't be available then!

But more reading today and it appears in the pug forums and it appears that the October update on the system may already have CarPlay there but needs to be activated by lexia. Anyone in the south with lexia like to have a look at mine to see if it's there?

That's why I had the bells and whistles on the options pack ticked when I bought it. Except the damn heated mirrors which should have been standard!

However I did learn something new with my van today. If you press the button on the end of the light stalk for three seconds, it enables voice control through your phone which for me makes selecting an album on my phone 10000999998768 times easier than trying to use the touchscreen on the road.

Just been in for the first service and they've managed to update the software and CarPlay is now active. So much easier and safer to use than pissing about with the Citroen menus!

I've got a pre-touchscreen 64-reg and an Android phone via Bluetooth. If I press the left stalk button it prompts me to talk, then it just google searches whatever I say. If I say "call" then it says something about needing authorisation - I guess I have to tell it it's allowed to make calls somehow, and I haven't worked out how.

If I press and hold the button then it listens to whatever music is currently playing - through the stereo, using the phone's mic, searches online for it and displays the name and artist. You could even try switching the stereo off and singing, but I don't know how well that would work.

It's like being in the future! It's also a good way of getting dangerously distracted.

Like Tree, I believe my Berlingo has the original touch screen system software installed from new a year ago. You can find out which version of the system software you have by:

1. Pressing the menu button.
2. Press and hold the settings button for 5 seconds.
3. There is then an option to view the 'System' version, 'Bluetooth' version and 'Display' version.

The original system software is SMEG6.0.... The newest version I can find a reference to online is SMEG6.1.D.R19.

My dealer did not have a clue about whether the touch screen could be updated or how to do it. It is done using both a USB stick with pre-loaded system software and the diagnostic computer link to enable CarPlay (Apple iPhone compatibility), so the latter part can only be done by a dealer which is a pity.

I would be very interested to hear what other Berlingo owners who had a recent update have displayed as their system version.

The new software includes compatibility for several more phones. At the moment Mirror Screen does not work with my Sony Xperia 1 and phone contacts are not diplayed on screen as advertised by Citroen, so I hope an update will do the trick. as per PM the latest version I have is SMEG6.1.D.R.20. This was the version that brought Apple Carplay on board.

I gather that the official Citroen link to the system 6.1.D.R20 software from December 2015 expired on the 25th July which perhaps suggests that a newer update version is now out. Does anyone know?
