Hi I am new to the forum, which has been loads of help already reading previous posts, and would like to say hi and thanks in advance for any help you guys can give me with a few problems on my 55 reg 1.9d Berlingo enterprise van.
Got this van with no lights and wipers, thought easy fix.....HA.....any ways new (used) bsi and comms 2000 unit later and no change......still no lights and wipers.....tried comms reset, no luck
Here's the main problems
Have side lights
No main beam
No high beam
Flash works ok
No wipers
No windscreen washer
No rev counter
No heater
Radio is missing
Rear lights all ok inc reverse
Indicators all ok inc hazard lights
Eco mode on display
Engine management light on
Abs light works as should
Brake warning light works as should
After engine running for a couple of minutes.....all dials in dashboard fall to bottom and dash lights go off.....
Van mechanically is perfect, starts on button everytime, stops as should, though the looks to be water staining near exhaust manifold from a possible prev water leak or blown head gasket....I know the van has had a recent gearbox and clutch replacement and along with faulty lights and wipers....thought was worth investing in as good clean van
Last week it's had a bsi unit change.....no difference......also changed fuse board.....no difference.....HOWEVER!!!...remove fuse board and lights works on main beam and wipers work once then stop......weird
Comms 2000 unit changed and reset.....no difference
Can only ASSUME that problem may be a complete Ecu software wipe or reset......or complete replacement with new keys
If anyone can help or has a Ecu and keys for sale or can guide or help me to upgrade software I would be most grateful
Thanks....richard

Are the fuses in the engine fuse box connecting OK. There was some that had problems with water getting into the fuse box and causing all sorts of problems.
Your h/lights and wipers and heater all have a feed from that fuse box , something worth looking at?

Thanks....richard Hi Richard... trying to resolve my immobiliser issues I came across a firm who specialise in ECU units. It can cause more problems if you replace with another ECU. ECU doctor in Plymouth. Test fee £35. They rebuild yours after finding the faults for £135 + parts with the test fee refunded. If they can't find problem no charge. £10 postage costs worth a try ? 01752 346437.Hope this helps. Mary

Hi brodfather11
Engine fuse box seems ok.....at the moment the front end is in pieces.....cleaning all earth points just to be sure.....fuse box seems ok and do have another I got from scrap yard, for elimination, both seem ok except when I use other one from scrappy I lose my elec Windows???? So have stuck with the original unit.....both are free from water damage...
I have an obsession sub lead with some cheap software that came with lead....which is reporting data connection impossible when connected to my Berlingo however I also have a c5 which has read ok
What is lexis please any help is much appreciated
Many thanks

It is Lexia , its a diagnostic system that plugs in the diagnostic port and gives you a list of faults recorded. There are cheap rip offs which either don't load or work properly. There may be other forum members who can give better advice than me regarding Lexia. Try a search on this forum for LEXIA .
I don't have Lexia but for my Volkswagen I use VCDS which does the same as lexia but is for the Volkswagen audi group vehicles.

Many thanks for your reply
Today I have removed front cross member, radiator, alternator, starter motor and solonoid, air cleaner and egr valve, MAF etc......all cleaned, checked and serviced,
Still have battery warning light on at all times....
Battery reads 12.31v and has been charged for 24hrs.....knackered I think!
Berlingo when running reads 14.47v so it would seem that the alternator service worked, v happy with that!
Will try my c5 battery which reads 13.61v tomorrow...much bigger
Whilst checking the radiator over I found a sensor of some kind with a nuked resistor in it....will investigate and replace resistor on Monday
Also I found two fried green 25A relays both water damaged.....removed and thoroughly cleaned, checked the loom to find a burnt out small green wire which was replaced to one of the relays....checked loom throughout van today, cleaned and checked all connections with contact cleaner and refitted.....everywhere...took hours
Didn't have any replacements for the relays so refitted and hoped for the best will try and find same type on my car and try those.....I do have a suspicion they may be fried though in the van....
STILL NO HEADLIGHTS OR WIPERS THOUGH......and when I unplug the grey wiring loom connection inside van....lights come on and wipers work once only....still weird
NOW THE WIERD BITS!!
After spending all damn day on the ol girls I have serviced the engine and wiring, starts and runs a dream without any noticeable knocks like a faulty bearing etc.....but yes she does have still
that common hiccup of sounding like a bag of spanners for the first two minutes then runs fine......then all the clocks fail on dashboard....as previously reported along with no heater either,...however I'm thinking this might be something to do with the relays by the radiator maybe being blown
Today I noticed as it got darker I have no display on my upper centre console
But now I have interior lights....that brighten and dim on entry exit etc...both front and rear....they only seemed to work by the switch before in manual mode...
Today I have followed the steps to reset both the BSI and COMMS2000 units but am unsure if both where successful.....think this may be down to low battery power??
Central locking and alarm seem OK
Still think I may have a faulty ECU though myself
Thanks for your advice guys will keep you all posted

It might be the engine running relay, after the engine starts and is running it switches from battery power to alternator power, it is mounted on the inner wing behind the headlamp (2001 1.9d ) or the relays for the cooling fans but these shouldn't work until high temp is reached.
