COuple of problems... side door alignement mainly ??
#1
Hello,

I'm new here and have recently bought my first berlingo.

Its a silver 2003 (53 reg), 1.9L diesel.

I bought it knowing there would be a couple of problems, and these forums have already been a great help, but i am having trouble finding threads for a couple of the problems im having and just wandered if anyone can help or point me in the direction of the appropriate thread.

My problems on the berlingo are:

Most importantly: Passenger Side , sliding back door. It opens and closes fine, but when it closes its as though its slightly out of alignment, the front end of the door sticks out slightly, which means there is a small gap between the door and the rubber seal, and the front end.

my worry with this is it might let rain water in and cause damp and rust etc... does anyone have any advice on how to / where to look to adjust a sliding door?

other little fixes:
The dashboard display seems to have no light, I'm assuming its just bulbs and i found a great hoe to thread on replacing them, so i ordered some led bulbs and will give that a go.

Theres also a little random beep happening but no warning lights on,,, then i noticed the dash said... 'remote control battery low'.... I'm assuming this just means the key battery is low? and if so do i simply just put a new battery in a bobs your uncle?

lastly... this isn't so much a fix as i was just wandering...

Ive bought a new JVC stereo to fit into my berlingo, its a bluetooth one, that also has connectivity for Ipods AND says its compatible with steering controller. ... Does anybody know if i fit this if it will effect the dash display, and is the built in berlingo radio steering controller compatible with newer stereos?

thanks so much for any advice or signposts to relevant information.

It will affect the dash display in that it will not interface with it so the dash display defaults to showing date and time. I've seen it written that if you replace the Citroen head unit with an after-market one you should get a dealer/someone with a Lexia programming tool to tell the car that the original unit has been removed. Mine already had a Sony unit so I don't know if it is really necessary or whether mine was done by a previous owner.

You will need to swap the permanent and switched 12v feeds (normally red and yellow wires) to the head unit as the Berlingo has 'innovative' French electrics and the head unit will forget everything you set on it when the ignition is switched off otherwise. You will need to turn off the unit when leaving the vehicle too, it carries on playing for 1 minute then turns off, however when you return and open the door it comes back on. Loudly. In the middle of the night. Not popular with neighbours Wink

Getting the steering column controls working is well worth it but will cost you money. You will need a vehicle specific adapter, I used the Autoleads pc99-x44, there are others but I can confirm this one works. I got mine here Car Audio & Security http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product.../6762.html who seemed reasonable on price and delivered quickly. You also need a head unit specific interface cable - in your case for JVC. The adapter fits between the head unit and wiring loom plugs. When you fit it un-swap the red and yellow 12v feeds as the unit has this reversal built in. A useful side effect of this adapter is that the power feed works as 'normal', i.e. when you turn off the ignition the stereo turns off and stays that way until you turn the ignition back on (to the accessory position obviously).

Hope that helps

Regarding the switched feed and stereo staying on, playing when door is opened, it doesn't happen if you take a switched feed from the fag lighter Wink

As steve says you can take a feed from fag lighter, i did this in a mates berlingo but i have not done it in mine yet but for the meanwhile i just make sure i switch the stereo off using the power button on the stereo when i switch ignition off, this means that when next switched on it doesnt switch itself on, I have been doing this for three months now and it working fine so dont think i gonna bother messing with wiring.
Just a thought but have you tried the dimmer button for the dash lights as in may be set low, i know you possibly done this already but i didnt know till other day you could dim them lol, anyway on the dash/speedo it is the button on the left just hold it in and it dims/brightens in stages

I'm watching this thread with bated breath...I have just the same mis-alignment problem with a driver's side rear door in my old Mk1 Multispace. Just the same, doesn't shut tightly top front edge.

I had briefly looked at the top runner but I didn't find the adjustment necessary. I have searched the net without any luck. So if anyone knows how to adjust the fit of the slidy doors please come forward...
