[Steering & Suspension] Track rod boots

Hi guys,
2 queries, 
No 1    been getting a vibration type noise from steering when parking, low speed turning etc, but only when about 3/4 turn before full lock to the left, no roughness or any other symptoms and nothing apparent on right turns. Plenty fluid in reservoir, any ideas?

No 2   had a look under van tonight and noticed that the o/s rubber boot on the steering rack is split/torn. How difficult is it to replace the boot or is there more to it than that.

It'a case of removing the TRE.Count the turns on removal so you don't upset the tracking.I would advise sucking the ATF out of the PAS res,top up & repeat 3 or 4 times every 50 miles or so to replace the old stuff.Should be red when finished whereas the old fluid is probably brownish.

know how to do the TRE's, replaced them, the discs and pads, wheel bearings, pinch bolts and driveshaft /gearbox oil seal 2 months ago. Was wondering more if the steering gator can be replaced from the TRE end or if the TR has to be separated from the rack.

Sorry for jumping in on this thread, but what would you use to suck out the ATF?

Ok guys, spoke to a mechanic mate today and he reckons it is a case of removing the TRE and the nut from the track rod, cutting the boot clamps, remove the damaged boot and slip the new boot onto the track rod. Is it that simple ?  or is there more to it.?

not confused, just looking for a straight forward answer, removing the fluid from the reservoir aint gonna help. Was unsure if gaiter would go on without removing the whole track rod.
