I have a sort of snapping sound occasionally when I depres the clutch pedal - sort of sounds as if something plastic is getting in the way, however it doesn't do it all the time?
Anyone ever had anything like this and what did you do to stop it?

hi there mike i have had this on a 2004 2.0 HDI when i first got it but it only did it ocassionally, after a few days it stopped and returned again 3 months later and now it stopped again, on my car it sounded like something metal that was loose and rattling when depressed but so far it hasnt caused me any problems and it has gone away again for now anyway.
Please let me know if you come up with anything
Many Thanks
Matt.

I had that for around 2 months, then last week the clutch went. Pedal went right to the floor and then nothing!
Garage said the 'snapping sound' was probably a very worn clutch bearing.
Where does your clutch bite? mine was biting right near the floor. Prior to it failing it didn't slip at all, although it was sometimes rather stiff trying to get it into the lower gears when down shifting.
Could be your clutch is on it's way out.

I had the pedal going to near the floor - it happened on Thursday. Took it in today and have had a new clutch cable done as well as a couple of other things.
