I'm going tomorrow
driving down though, as far too many bottles/Christmas presents/kids to make flying a sane option. Can't wait!

where you going Chris? just spent all day getting my partners 4x4 down our track and down the hill to village. Stand a better chance now of taking cat to cattery tomorow, then partners lad to his dads then hopefully dependant upon forcast leave for liverpool tomorow or wait till sunday morning.
Time will tell.
Couldnt even turn my berlingo around in our yard EVEN with mud and snow tyres on....oh dear wishing I`d bought that landy again now......
Any one want a MK3 with alloys , m& s tyres, bull bar, bike rack, Tinted windows, etc etc for a sensible price?
Or do I buy chains?
Pete.

Went to a small place in France called Le Chinaillon. Left home in a blizzard which seemed to continue all the way through France. I had suggested taking the Berlingo seeing as it had winter tyres but the boss put her foot down and insisted we take hers instead which was by far the most sensible thing given that we had temperatures down to nearly -20c and was transporting three kids, as well as all Christmas presents, ski gear etc etc.

I had ordered a pair of snow socks (for the car) but they didn't arrive in time due to the delivery being delayed by snow
, so set off relying on the Volvo's 4wd and its "all season" General Grabbers which combined, were amazing. Easily got through thick fresh snow as well as up and down icy, snow covered roads without any dramas. Skiing was great and the apres ski even better!
Pete, how did you get on?

The Volvo has been a brilliant family car and ours has had 100,000 miles, and three kids to deal with and I would not hesitate to recommend them. As for snow chains, I put some on for my parents who were out with us. They were £35 jobs and (once instructions were read) were dead simple to put on.
