Brake Load Sensing Valve
#1
Hi all,

It's a long time since I posted anything here as the old girl has been behaving herself for over a year now apart from wipers that have a mind of their own - but I'll get on to that another day.

My 2001 M49 Berlingo has just failed the MOT test on an inoperative brake load sensing valve. Can anybody tell me where this is and how I should go about trying to fix or replace it?

Thanks in advance

Paul

Hi Paul,
You'll find it at the rear of the vehicle on the driver's side above the axle. Just follow the brake pipe from the r/o/s wheel cylinder. The usual problem is a broken spring or seized lever. If it's the spring, you can just buy it off the internet.

Thanks for your help Griff.
I'm starting to get a picture of what might be involved. With any luck it'll just be a seized lever arm that will free up with a good dousing of WD40. Seems to be a common problem.

For anybody in the same predicament, the link above and this one http://www.berlingoforum.co.uk/thread-3635.html may help. Ruscrat posted a very clear picture of the valve/spring/lever arm on the bare chassis.
