Add a new Berlingo owner to the ranks
#1
Drove the 180 miles today to pick up our new Berlingo Plus and I have to agree with HJ65 (new XTR) owner , I did not get any mats either (even cheapies) apart from a 12 inch square section cut from a cardboard box lying on the driver side floor!
Dealer had kindly put enough fuel for 80 miles or so (his reckoning) in it but from 150 yards from the dealer it was running with a stuttery misfire on light throttle on bends and I stopped to put half a tank of diesel in it within 2 miles at the nearest garage . This thankfully sorted the misfire and saved a return journey to dealer and I am pleased to report we had a quiet and surprisingly refined journey home .
Only downside is a slight wiggle from the back end when travelling over bumps on our wonderful roads I noticed a couple of times. Almost as if there was a slight rear wheel steer for a millisecond as the rear suspension sorts itself out.
Typically we left dealer in NE England in shirt sleeves and late 20's and arrived home after carefully observing running in, in a monsoon with visibility at times down to 100 yards with mist/fog/spray !! Car which was nice and shiny 4 hours earlier now looks like a refugee from the RAC rally...
Dealer swears that there is no dpf fitted to (90 hp) engine but everything is well shielded and weather is too bad now to investigate further. Does anyone know if the new 90hp are fitted with DPf, s and /or tank of liquid cleaner, Fap??. Engine is reputed to be Euro 5 compliant so I would have thought so? Will check with Citroen UK now I have a chassis number. cheers...
Ps picked up decent rubber/carpet floor mats at Halfrauds -normal price £29.99 sale price £9.99 check out their website online for details.

The new diesels are all fitted with dpf. Its self cleaning so maintenance free. The earlier mk3s only had dpf fitted to 110bhp but currently all diesels have them. It would depend when yours was actually manufactured as to whether one is fitted or not.

Thanks Opensauce, I agree totally with you but as that was a prerequisite for buying as my wife does many short journeys we definitely did NOT want a DPF equipped car. Even when I pointed out what looked like a dpf on handover the dealer INSISTED that it does not and is not fitted to 90HP models. Quite cheekily to be honest but he did seem to want us out of the door as quickly as possible as I think the buyer for our old car was due to arrive.
Tried to thank you but appear to have thanked myself ???
Will contact Citroen now I have a chassis number for confirmation.

All you need to do to clean dpf is to drive over 50mph for a few miles every so often.

Hi all , just had a reply from Citroen UK and just as expected and contrary to the supplying dealers word- ALL diesels now have a DPF fitted (God help us all) see quote from new online sales brochure below.

THERE IS ONE PETROL OPTION, THE VTi 95 MANUAL WHICH COMPLEMENTS DIESELS OF 75HP, 90HP AND 110HP.
ALL DIESEL ENGINES ARE EQUIPPED WITH A DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTER SYSTEM FOR REDUCED ENVIRONMENTAL
IMPACT. WHICHEVER YOU CHOOSE, YOU CAN EXPECT BENCHMARK RELIABILITY.

I suppose its fair to say technology dosen't stand still so any problems should be being addressed & worth pointing out that dpf light coming on has been a problem mainly on VW, Mazda & Fiat vehicles not really on Citroen/Peugeot. Mine has never been a problem. I can do short local runs for a few weeks at a time between motorway trips.
