Up to Inverness today - 4 Degrees C over Slochd Summit and snow on the Cairngorms - Had Winter tyres on new steel wheels fitted - Gislaved Nord Frost 5 [Swedish] - Look good but the proof will be in the skidding [or lack of it] There's already a run on Winter Tyres up here - not surprising after last 2 winters! Will keep you posted!

Haven't come across that brand down here. Will be interested in your evaluation this winter. If they're Swedish they should know about winter.

Just Googled 'em. Looks like they ought to get the job done.

Gislaved are very good tyres,I had a set of them many years ago on a Cortina 1600E and they lasted ages. They had a very deep tread pattern and were incredibly good in ice and snow.
Volvo used to fit Gislaved as standard many years ago on their cars.
Are studded tyres actually legal in the UK? In some countries they are legal (mainly Scandinavia) but in other's they're not.
I used to drive to Sweden every week with a truck and in the winter you could hear the cars with studded tyres coming from miles away, they do give off quite a bit of noise.

Put a set of Avon Ice Touring winter tyres last winter. Felt good and not too expensive. These are going back on towards the end of November as we have a weekly 400 mile round trip every week Jan - March.
