Glow Plug Relay

Hi Guys

My 2002 1.9D is having troubles starting but a chap I knew ran a wire straight to the plugs and it started straight away.

All lights seem as though theyre behaving and im sure I can hear clicking when ignition is on, is there a way to test the glow plug relay without changing, and could someone point me to an image to the relay.

I did see on a forum something about a round plug with bad connections below the battery but I cant seem to find this although there is a round type plug firther behind battery towards bulkhead but I dont want to mess with something if its not correct.

Any adivice?
