timing belt noise

hello ,I have a 2014 xtr 1.6hdi and there is a rattle/scrapping noise I thought it was coming from drive belt tensioner, but Citroen have advised me its coming from timing belt, they say there is a tech bulletin about debris coming off water pump onto belt and causing this, the car has only done 29000 miles and is still in warranty, if it turns out to be the tensioner worn out do you think that will be covered under warranty thanks westie

Yes if its failing its covered under warranty its not wear and tear so you should pay a penny, its all down to them.

We have replaced a few because of this noise, the belt tends to have a rusty appearance when removed.,often seems worse on low mileage cars.
Can't really comment on the warranty situation .

thanks for the reply ,its booked in for Monday Citroen say there is a tech bulletin that says something about metal particles coming off water pump and sticking to belt, the noise is very loud I'm not convinced lol, sounds like a failing tensioner to me ,I'm not  driving it in case!!

Just had car into Citroen turns out it was the crankshaft pulley /sprocket pinion weld had broken glad I didn't drive it lol , thanks for your help

Any idea what could be thw TsB number of that issue ...
