Berlingo 1999 Handbrake

Hi All 
I hope some-one can help. My Berlingo Van 1999 1.9D , the handbrake button is stuck out ! , So i can use the Handbrake but only if i 
keep hold of it & when parked i must prop a piece of wood under it to hold it on.
Has any-one got an easy to follow diagram or instructions on how to fix it .   If i need to remove the handbrake lever to fix , can someone also give me instructions on this

Weird one - try spraying some wd40 into the button then giving it a tap with a hammer.

Other than that remove and try and free off but i would say if you cant free it off as above you are looking at a scrap yard for a replacement.
