My 2010 B9 has done 35,000 miles and seems to smoke whenever the accelerator is pushed hard. I realise 'they all do that sir' but my car seems excessive. Any heavy use of throttle leaves black smoke in varying degrees behind.
The engine seems to run fine with no excessive noise.
I am now using Millers and almost used one bottle.
Is there somewhere I should be looking to try and trace the problem? Could EGR be the issue?

Yes ive come across a low milage vehicle before where the EGR was causing black smoke - that was on a C4 though but still the same concept.
diagnostic sounds like a good move

The car is a diesel.
The car is driven at around 70mph for two trips of around 15 miles every week plus other shorter journeys. It does not work too hard!!
The air filter was changed around this time last year and so I will change it and give that a try. Failing that are we saying check EGR?
