New Battery
Nearly nine years on the original battery and winter is looming so, I'm thinking of a replacement to be on the safe side as I don't want to have a dead car during the first snowy morning.

Would you say it is best to use a fully charged new battery and :

A. Just change the thing.

B. Disconnect and leave the car for an hour to re-set the system before fitting the new one.

C. Use a voltage saver plugged in the cigar lighter so that the car doesn't know it's been changed.

D. Any other bright ideas.
I did "A" and nothing bad happened! In fact I've always done "A" on every car I've had.
Follow BSI shutdown procedure
Get another battery some jump lead's use the earth lug on the body next to the battery for the neg connect the pos to the live cable the one with the fuse's on just right of the positive terminal take off +/ - on the old battery lift out old battery fit new one .
Smile  It's too orangey for crow's It's just for me and my dog  Smile

Heart Heart Love a lot trust a few  Dodgy

Oh I see, you're supposed to wait 3 mins for the BSI to go to "sleep". Took me longer than that to work out how to actually get at the battery, so I guess I got away with it. Pretty dumb if the system is that unresilient to just have the power pulled on it!
It's a carefully calibrated period of time - exactly the time taken to smoke a ciggy.
