Lexia clone that works with 2003 model?

Ongoing non-start 'fun' with a 2003 Berlingo Multispace 1.9D !!

Having decided that the only hope is to purchase a Lexia, I'm having a massive problem with finding one of the clones that will work with the above model.

Every seller I've asked, bar one, says that the Chinese clones they sell will not work with the 2003 model: The one that says it will work is selling one that looks, and has a specification that is, identical to all the others.

Can anyone please enlighten me as to whether there is a clone that will work with a 2003 Berlingo Multispace 1.9D and, if not, what the problem is ?

Is it all about the FULL CHIP part?
Having said that, some of the suppliers of the full chip versions say that they will NOT WORK with the 2003 model !

will take a photo of mine tonight and see what it is i have.

Mine works with 2004 and 2006 1.9D OBD ports.

one issue i found causing it not to work well was that the obd pins are easy to push through the connector in the car and into the area behind the connector.

did they say why in particular the 2003 part was an issue .... i know when i bought mine the 1.9D was a potential issue but the work around was not to install a certain version of lexia that wasnt the latest ...but that was 3 years ago and i forget..but ill fire up the old laptop i keep for lexia and figure out what i have installed.

i do know from personal experience that 2004/2005 (or some at least) are not OBD2 compatible... i know this from experience after spending 100 quid on a unit and i've been arguing ever since with the supplier as they said 'yes definitely will work with your car to do live data graphing, etc'. i can read coads and reset them with it and see very basic data.
p.s. not sure what the lexias use.

depends what you want it to do.

the obd on a 1.9D is very basic. its basically a mechanical engine with a piggyback ECU there is very little info to be gleaned from it.

HOWEVER my Lexia can do what its supposed to with a 1.9d ECU.

so it reads live data? can it record it too? i need one that i can plug in and drive around recording and then i can trace back to faults. with obd2 that's doable with lots of readers, but not with pre-obd2 models.
p.s. peugeot got round the law changes for a while as the law said ''all cars must be obd2'' and they said ''berlingos/partners are vans''.. slippery fellas are car companies!

I think the issue the suppliers have is that OBD2 was only introduced in 2003/4 for diesel cars in Europe so 2003 is a borderline case. A quick & easy test is to get a cheapo ELM327 interface from fleabay and download the (free) Torque light app from Google Play. It's by no means conclusive but it'll cost less than a fiver to find out. You can check the ELM327 in any OBD2 compliant car, if it works on another car but not yours, you'll know the answer. If it works, the full Torque app will reset fault codes afaik.
Do you have the OBD2 connector to the right of the steering column by the fuses?

what data do you hope to record ?

as i said its a mechanical injection with a piggy back ECU controlling very little.

more so where are you based ? maybe one of us with lexia can try ours and see if its the interface or the car.

Slight technical issue last night in that my laptop battery's flat and I'm struggling to find the charger in the shed. If it's drier tonight I'll take it out. Was hoofing it doon last night here
