Heater control unit/resistor pack

Hello all, my problem is the heater fan switch no longer works, when I bought the van it only worked at the highest setting, now it doesn't work at all, I've read that it may be a separate resistor pack that is faulty and not the control unit itself, how do I know if my van has this resistor pack and if so where is it located, I have tried removing the control unit but it's a b****r of a job.

If you look below the glovebox you need to remove the clips on the edge that holds trim panel in place. If you stick your head under there you should see the resistor cabling leading to the resistor pack. It could be held in by a screw or to or it may just have a lug you press and the pack comes out.

Thanks Tomcat, got a chance to have a look today and found it first time, not sure how easy it will be to get back in though it's well hidden up there.

As I thought, got replacement resistor pack today and connected it to the wiring plug but can't find where it slots into, lying upside down but still can't see where it should go. With the resistor connected the fan still isn't working, will it work with the resistor pack just hanging?

It seems I have 2 problems, changed out the resistor pack but fan still did not work, checked the voltage at the fan connector and I am getting voltage thru all 4 fan settings so it seems the fan is goosed aswell, is this a common problem, is there any fixes that can be done to the fan even though it is a sealed unit, over £100 for a new one

Finally got this sorted out, got a replacement fan from the scrappies, £35 plus the £14 for the resistor pack, job done for under £50, hopefully it will last.
