starter motor by mitsubishi?
#1
hi all,

i know starter motors are pretty standard these days but should i expect one on my 2004/5 blingo 2.0 hdi to have one with ''mitsubishi motor company'' printed on it?

thanks.

p.s. it's on the way out, i'm going for an upgrade to a bosch 2.2 kw.

Quite possibly - Mitsubishi and Citroen have had vehicle collaborations in the past C-Crosser and Outlander were both the same vehicle
Previous Berlingo: 2015 1.6 L1850 90ps In Artic Steel inc Look Pack and Lighting Pack.

Previous Berlingo: K9 2018 Driver M 100ps in Platinum Grey with Safety Pack

Current Berlingo: 2021 K9 Driver M Pro 130ps EAT8 in Platinum Grey with Safety Pack

Mistubishi is an large industrial group which suppliers starters and alternators to various car manufacturers. When the original one for my M59 went, Valeo - I believe, it was replaced with a brand new Mitsubishi one for a steal and it works fine.

Short answer is yes, for some reason there are several makes of starter on the HDi motors.

there are alot of things on the berlingos that if you take the part number off the part rather than the parts book you can get the generic part much cheaper from the internet than that of the one in a box cross referanced to the parts book.

the MAF sensor on my dw8 was a prime example - using the citroen part number threw up expensive options , using the number off the exisiting one found ones at a fraction of the price without unknown chinese quantities ..... i think i got a delphi in the end.

ive a 2004 berlingo 2.0hdi it use to turn over quite slow and would need a couple of spins to start...i ended up buying a heavy duty starter from ebay. it was bigger and had more teeth on on it (mate said it wouldnt fit because of the extra teeth ) its been on now nearly two years and totaly changed the car for starting. spins MUCH faster and starts instanly in all weather. one of the best things ive done to the car!!!

mine arrives monday.. looking forward to fitting it... woul be so much easier if they hadn't penny-pinched on the cable lengths.

i've come across posts from people who said their blingo would die as soon as fired and starter disengaged. this seems to be because the ecu i sreading a speed lower than it likes to allow fuel into the engine and so it cuts out. isn't technology wonderful! i'm going back to petrol next time, and maybe one with points and rotor arm, etc.. might be a bit old though!
