Intermittent Wiper Speed - Adjustable?
#1
Just wondered if anyone knows if it's possible to adjust the intermittent wiper delay? On some makes of car, it's apparently possible by  an 'on off on' sequence to set the timer. I tried that but it didn't seem to make a difference.

I'd love to be able to do it but every Citroen or Pug I've driven has this really annoying feature. My old focus had six different sweep settings just for the intermittent wipe and that was great as you could adjust it to suit the rain, not the speed the car was going at.

It was a really bad idea & even worse, when set on automatic, they would have a fit.I turned it off after about a month.

Hate the intermittent on mine. At motorway speed they are almost 1st speed with a 1 second delay, and at slower speed one sweep every 4th lamp post

I'm confused! Does this mean that the car varies the delay according to your speed? I thought that I'd noticed a different delay while driving home the other day, but assumed I'd imagined it.

I have a 2004 2.0HDi, in case that makes a difference.

There is a sensor behind the mirror on the screen & is (supposed) regulate the speed to rain density. To use a very technical term,it's crap.

Not all have the sensor at the rear of the mirror Ron some measure the resistance of the wiper drag and adjust accordingly.

To be fair mine does this and im okay with it, it works in a fashion but if im not happy i use the manual one sweep mode, no hardship to me.

Interesting stuff & it means that I probably wasn't imagining things the other day when I thought the delay had changed. I expect that there will be more rain before too long .... for me to judge if it's working sensibly.
