Hi,newbie hear, just bought a high milage 1.9 bingo van 56 reg, I'll be picking various people's brains no doubt. It's getting cold and starting is a bitch, not sure which 1.9 I've got but a manual is on its way along with some new glow plugs, we'll see if that helps

Glow plugs is a good idea.Have you checked valve clearances? as bad cold starting is also a symptom of this.

I'll check that, also I've noticed the primer pump will not go solid, is this normal ?

Check the fuel filter top for fine cracks.Fuel doesn't always leak out but can let air in.
