2.0 hdi oil change miles / effects of old oil
#21
Opinions vary on injector cleaners, but the ones that seem to get the best reviews is Millers or Forte. Personally, I've never used either so can't offer a direct opinion.

As far as the code reader is concerned, you could check to see if there are any codes logged. I remember reading somewhere that vans lagged behind cars with implementing OBD but diesel cars were required to have OBD compliance from end 2003 iirc so any late '04 or later model should be ok.

citroen and peugeot got round it for a while by saying 'they are not cars, they are vans' - i read up on this a while ago.

Yes, that was what I'd read somewhere too. My '04 HDi seems to work ok with a cheapo ELM327 clone. Amongst other things, the common rail & boost pressures can be seen.

If you look on fleabay for elm327 there are lots. I bought one of the blue ones with version 1.5 firmware. PM if you want some more info.

It's possible that you have a faulty ELM clone. They are so cheep n cheerful that there's bound to be a few duff ones out there, can you try it on a different car? Mine was working OK then stopped for no apparent reason, as I'd had the info I wanted by then I've not investigated further. None of the clones use official ELM chips or firmware and there were some stories that the later 2.1 firmware versions are worse than the 1.5 versions. Neither 1.5 or 2.1 are official versions but are (probably) Chinese reverse engineered onto different chip hardware so results will vary.

Hmm.
Only other possibilities to try that come to mind is the software you're using to talk to the adapter (I've been using Torque) or a faulty connector on your Berlingo in that case. There were some reports of the connector pins being pushed back behind the connector. I guess the only way to know what standards your car was built to would be a trip to a local garage with the official tools.
