At last
#1
Big Grin At last i got my Berlingo back from the garage after £1000 later i bought a  couple of month's back i took it for test drive seamed ok got all the gear's ok it handled ok had a good look at the body wheel arches underneath look ok  wheels ok no movement so took it back and we have it but if only if it came with 12 month's MOT

Well we paid £700 for it as it was a trade they got in though cheap enough as i got it down from £800 you think so anyway after a weekend passed they rang and car car's ready so we got a friend to take us there to pick it up then we was going to drop it of to our local garage as we was tole they not history on it at all so thought i need to change the cam belt to be on the safe side i all way's do this peace at mind i ask my mate who own's the garage to give it a once over

any how they did for me pick it up next day he told me he told to what i can see it look fine so paid him £300 took it home gets 2 mile from home then had gear problem after fighting with it popped the gear stick came off and was stuck in first tried freeing myself but kept getting burnt on my hand  thought this is ridiculous so called the recovery out that took them 2 hours as it was a Friday evening of all time to breakdown anyway got to my friends garage again said he look at it on monday so back home on the bus again lucky i got a classic car spare so we used that till we got the car back

Monday came with a phone call your clutch is busted said he was surprised  you got that far the mess it was in said it will need a new clutch i went and saw this and could someone have made a bodge job of it while i was there and seeing up on the lift i took the opportunity to look under it i looked at the exhaust and was not too please that it was blowing in certain places so told to replace the back one while they did the clutch an other £300

So the next go and picks it up again got home drove nice smooth gear box so we went the next day we went out in it we did about 100 mile round trip and noticed it banging rattling knocking thought the F then i notice the temp kept creeping up as i had a trailer in tow only small little thing i had a moped on the back as i was delivering it to a customer as was buying it and standing a in slow moving traffic i had to full over in a layby lucky i near one as then the this light lit up and stop just got in layby and it cut out so after letting it cool down look at fans one was sticking other was free thought they should kicking in at some point after waiting an hour for to cool down well we decided  rather than cook the the engine we turn back home and check it when i got home rang garage again told the problem bring it in leave with w will sort it as told him to check suspension as there was knocking ect

Well load and behold the front spring had broke but you could not see it as it was hidden until it was take off told to replace both of them then the drag links and some other things that need it then the  found some brake fluid on the back wheels found the the rear flexy hoses wear leaking so had them to replace and the fans wear naf as well so to go buy some new fans but ended up getting second hand after all that was done it came to an other £300 again

So just short of £1000 the has now come back to me all clean and tidy mileage reset for 10.000 let's hope it want nothing doing as we going away in caravan this weekend on a 400 round trip the joys of motoring

What colour is it, yellow ? It sounds like you got a lemon. I hope that was the end of your problems for a while and enjoy your trip.
So where does this bit go then ?

and ............breath :-) ,well hopefully you've replaced the more common bits that seem to crop up,hope you can relax into using it now, takes awhile to earn your trust when you have a few issues at the start, one of the risks with trade cars, people have part ex'd usually for a reason but better to chuck the money now and know what's sorted...good luck. Ian.

ps, good idea to put what vehicle, year, engine on your signature then people have an idea what their helping with, some great help on this forum.

...and you've clocked it to show 10,000 miles?

I think he reset the service indicator but may be wrong.

"Spares or repair" is meaningless under UK consumer law. It still has to be fit for purpose.

Ditto "trade sale". Unless the buyer is also a trader the term offers the seller no protection from comebacks.
