Door locking but unlocked
#1
Good evening everybody  I hope you are all well
I have myself a little 02 Partner and by god do I love her dearly but Dorris has a bit of a problem with arthritis in her wee locking system.

The locks work as such you can hear it clunking into life when you push the button.

From the outside if you pull either the driver or passenger doors it's not a problem she's as solid as a rock but if you pull the handle of the side door or the rear door it unlocks the entire van.

I have done some googlying and haven't found a solution and hoping someone could possibly assist here.

Thank you all in advance

Daniel & Dorris

Sorry I can't help with Dorris' problem Daniel but I enjoyed reading your post and welcome to the forum.
So where does this bit go then ?

maybe a bsi reset to reboot the computer would help

but id be inclined to just disconnect the wiring to the rear doorlocks to isolate them from the cenral locking system and stop them inerferring with the other doors and use the key.

I thought of that but there is no keyhole in my side doors so they would not be usable.

strip the door linings out and look for chafed wires?  but if more than one door gives the same fault it points to a central computer problem.

our multispace has ecenticities... front door locking /unlocking is fine     on the key (no remote) locking works on the key in either front door lock   however unlock using the rear door rest of doors dont unlock till the rear door is half way open.   locking the rear door only locks the rear door.

Hello Everybody and thank you for your responses.
Dorris and I have been all over the country lately and haven't had a chance to look further into the problem.

Today I was in the back and couldn't help myself other than to pull the lining off the back and go for another run at it. I noticed that the white yoke on the actuator bit wasn't moving so what I done was disconnected it from the barrel (the barrel is merely just a decoration at this stage as it doesn't budge) but the actuator moved after being disconnected from the barrel however I still get the same issue where the door can be opened from the outside after locking it.

I'm somewhat baffled now but a friend of mine (who used to work for Citroen, said it could be something to do with the computer (Confusion particles are now flying out of me) so yeah its back to the drawing board Confused

I will get it in the end up, I'm not giving up on the old girl not now after all we've been through I'm just too stubborn

thanks again

Daniel

Hello everybody I finally found a solution to my problem.

It required a bit wd40 and skinny fingers.

In the mechanism there is a white latch that when the inside handle is pushed down it loses the mechanism to open the door and on top of that there is a little what looks like a brass plate that when the outside handle is pulled it pushes down on the mechanism to open the door.

There is a cable that runs from the brass piece that sets tension or what ever it's purpose is. The cable has a screw piece that needed to be unwound as it was putting alot of pressure on the mechanism so that the actuator could not move the part away so it was no longer operational from the outside.

It probably makes no sense I have some pictures but no idea how to upload them (I'm getting old haha) but if anyone has this issue I can try assist in some way.

Thanks to everyone for their help though.

Regards
Daniel
