As a newbie can anybody help
I have recently been given my berlingo but it seems to be have cold starting problems after having the timing belt and glow plugs replaced
It seems to run rough, misfire at tickover and sends out plumes of pale blue smoke under acceleration car runs fantastic once warmed up, a friend suggested that it could be the EGR valve sticking so had this cleaned still got the same problems so hoping some kind person on the forum has had previous experience of this problem and can tell me how to fix it.

Welcome to the forum ,
There are different diesel engines fitted , a 2.0 or 1.9. , which do you have.?

The early engines had different ways of getting the engine to run sweet when starting from cold.

Did it run well before the belt was changed and did you think the glow plugs needed replaced ?

Check the timing again and remove glow plugs and test.

where did you get the glow plugs from?

Who changed the cam belt?

As brodfather11 says ^^ what engine + mileage

Hi
The engine is the 1.9 had the glow plugs replaced after the belt was done thinking one of the plugs could have burnt out causing the problem but the colder it is getting the worse the problem seems to be getting

Does it start easily and run rough or hard to start and run rough?

There are cold start devices on them , which if not working properly (or not reconnected ) will let it start but not run smoothly until warm .

Its strange that its only since its had a new belt etc that the problems started . I would ask them to recheck the timing

Take it back to the dealer - it ran right before so ask to speak to the service manager.

It wont be the cold start.

Cannot take back to the dealer as it was my uncle that had the work done before he went back to Australia earlier in the year I have all the receipts but I don't think the dealer would entertain doing the work.
Brodfather11the car stars easily and runs rough
