I suspect this is only the beginning of new reforms. The visual check is limited in its effectiveness at best, so checks at the MOT stage will need to be bolstered sooner rather than later IMO.

Absolutely correct. Whats the point of anti pollution devices if the mot test cannot detect any removal? Deliberately increasing engine emissions is tax fraud really. I'm suprised garages can legally offer dpf removal.

It's probably like the "show" plates people illegally fit , no doubt there's small print on the invoice saying legal only for off road & motorsport   to  cover the garages against prosecution .
