I've seen a 2003 2.0 HDI for the same price as what I have spent so far on Pup.
With a farm the look after, a degree to study towards and bills to pay I may just buy this one (after thoroughly looking it over!!!) And fight Pups corner.

Pup needs a little TLC around the edges but a classic you've got there nonetheless. Get some miles in commuting to uni?

Looks like I should stick it out.
I just contacted DVSA again, by phone, but as I have now definitely exceeded the 28 days post test to complain the only thing I can report is corrosion issues. Cheers DVSA.
I don't want to be stuck with this, so it's all or nothing. I guess I better get fixing.

I don't understand you uni commuting question sorry. It's a 32 mile round trip twice a week for uni if that is what you meant Smile

Wouldn't that be regarding the purchase of the vehicle as opposed to the bent MOT? I don't have the sellers details as he never sent the v5 off in his name. I just have a mobile number.

It would cover the seller so you might struggle i would still go the MOT route and when the ministry inspect it point out the other defects then.

Also remember the ministry will do a full MOT and may find things that you were not aware of. The ministry are not stupid they will know if it should have passed or not and be able to check component wear against milage

Sod them go for it

I hear what you are saying polar. The DVSA is the new VOSA, they're who I spoke to today and confirmed they cannot do anything accept corrosion issues with it being after 28 days. I was afraid of the added problems a legit MOT would find. This way I've got 12 months to fix it at my leisure rather than 2 weeks (free retest).
So the MOT route is over.

Sootyfoot where do I start with that? Still need an MOT and don't have DVSA backing Sad would I need to fork out court fees? So much stress!

I have spent the last 4 hours on the drivers side to sort this bearing. Spent most of it building a tool to get the drive shaft nut off.

I've gotten as far as rounding the brake disc retaining bolts and making the block and bar to get the lower joint out of the hub but I need some heavier chain.
