Anyone know why sometimes if I am driving in cojested areas or behind a dirty car my van seems to suck the fumes inside the van?
I never had this before to this degree is this am air filter problem?
By the way where is the cabin filter in the mk3 Berlingo van?
Cheers.

Must be reading this wrong .... ?
So the answer is to shut the vents / fan off to stop sucking air in from the polluting car in front ???
Sort of on /off topic - years ago before the environment became a political issue a drive past Port Talbot steelworks DEMANDED the windows were shut and the fan / vents were closed off due to the stink from the steel plant, god help the health of the poor dabs who used to live there !

Mine did this, it was the injector seals starting to leak, open your bonnet and see if you can smell it with the engine running

Had the same on a Ford 1.4 tdci lump same as PSA engine. It's a penny job as the copper press washers hadn't been thick enough when built. So changed the washers on two of them but then just to be safe replaced the fuel return pipes. 20 quid all in with ford parts
