Have you tried priming the fuel system using priming bulb? Draining any water from the fuel filter housing and changing fuel filter?

This is the cheapest/ easiest 1st port of call.. could be EGR, injector, fuel pump etc...

How many miles has your van done?
What rpm is the van ticking over at?
Adam..2003..1.9D..LX..Silver Crew Cab Van.....
If at first you don't succeed, destroy all evidence that you tried.
