WOTS YOUR AVERAGE MPG IN EGS ?

Just trying to gauge the expected average mpg in Berlingo Multispace EGS auto, heard a few different averages from mid 40s to mid 50s in day to day driving :fish:

Hi, averaging mid forties so far in my 90hp manual but still early days with 450 miles on the clock-mostly town driving . Driven carefully word is the auto is slightly more economical than manual. Berlingos seem to be the new Octavias around here for taxis with the local dealer in Glasgow saying he supplies 50 at a time to the taxi centre . (Hence the reason I couldnt get one locally!)
Have spoken to a couple of taxi guys using them and they admitted they are not as good as the old Octavia but only reliability gripes seem to be turbos gumming up at fairly low mileages and bits of trim falling off!

I disagree with Berlingos being not as good as the Octavia.

I had an A4 octavia and hand quite a few problems with it, alarm, clutch, door locks and more. Leg room in the back was terrible and the seats wernt the most comfortable.
The A5 Octavia has its problems too biggest being the clutch.
The Berlingo has far more space in the back and the front and a giant boot. The driving position is nice and high and visibility is very good. I can do a shift in the berlingo and feel much better after it than the Octavia.
I havnt had any trim fall off yet.

I concur-I had Flywheel problem with Octavia ( but Skoda Customer Service were great dealing with any problems, in my case ). Also, after driving A5 Skoda I find ( so far ) that the Berlingo is more comfy for me-driving position is lot better and passengers are really impressed with the space,comfort, ride quality and ease of access , although a couple of folk were intimidated by higher level access to doors-but most have found that their fears were unfounded and had no problem accessing the vehicle and once in the car there is no problem getting out , in fact, they find it easier.Just hope that old Citroen quality issues sorted and car is able to cope long term with minimal problems, and if any occur, that Citroen are helpful.

Hi guys we are getting a bit off topic but I was only quoting what one of the larger taxi firm owners in the area said to me and he seemingly buys lots ! He did agree with you on one thing , the old Octavia was more comfortable and better liked by his drivers than the new one. Clutches and finally gearboxes can be a problem but easily fixed according to him . Engines largely bombproof especially on old sdi/tdi. I suppose that is why they continued to build them alongside the new model for so long as they were so popular in taxi spec.
What I will say is that in my experience the quality of materials ,build and fit and finish was far better on the 03 reg Octavia elegance tdi I had a couple of years ago compared to my new Berlingo. Try shutting the front doors to be met with a broing! of the door skin panels resonating or lift up and down gently with the door open to see the 'A' pillar flex around the hinge area! The word flimsy comes to mind!!

You are correct in saying that it seems a lot of drivers preferred older model of Skoda. I listened to a lot of taxi drivers who purchased Berlingos and most were really happy with the cars and how they drive before buying one myself. As you say-getting off original topic- I would still like to know what other EGS owners are getting MPG wise
