Help with rear sliding door lock - Multispace 2004
#1
I hope someone can help? I cannot open one of the rear sliding doors from the inside. When locking/unlocking the doors with the plip it always locks and unlocks correctly i.e. I can open from the outside using the handle. Its just the opening from the inside on this one door that I am unable to do. Its causing an issue as I am converting the vehicle into a small camper van and need to open this sliding door from the inside.

Initially I thought it might be the child lock mechanism but now I'm not so sure and it may be something to do with the push button release on the inside of the door. There is evidence that this part of the lock has been tampered with before as the covering trim is missing (see photo)

Has anyone experienced this? Is it relatively easy to fix?

Many thanks,
Steve.

First thing I would do is take off the internal door card which will give you access to the mechanism.

Press the internal button and see if it's pulling the wire and compare it to what happens when you do the outside handle. It should give you a good idea of what is going on.

I had a problem with mine yesterday where it wouldn't open with either handle inside or out, they both felt like they were not connected to anything. I could hear the central locking working and feel the solenoid when I pressed the key button but nothing was happening. I flicked it a couple more times then tried again and hey presto the door opened and locked again so I left it for later when the weather picks up probably just needs lubricating. Yours sounds more like something has disconnected inside.
So where does this bit go then ?

Thanks everyone. My knowledgeable auto electrician had a look after fitting reversing sensors. He SORTED it be applying liquid grease to the external parts. Now door operates correctly.
