Berlingo 2.0 hdi jumps out of 3rd and 5th gear
#1
Just bought a 2.0 hdi berlingo it has a problem where it jumps out of 3rd and 5th there is no crunch or anything and the gearbox doesn't wine. Could this be a worn engine mount or. Gearbox mount?

Thanks in advance

Hi there welcome to the forum, does the gear linkage feel loose and sloppy its probably the rose joint linkage underneath. Worth checking first before you start looking at gearbox and clutch. There are plenty of threads on here with diagrams so you know what your looking at and there is also a workshop manual you can download to help. Have a search you will come across them and give you many hours of reading.
Are we there yet????? Huh

If its not the linkage its the nut on the end of 5th gear come loose.

The gear linkage isn't sloppy at all only reason i thought it might be engine mount is the gear stick moves quite a lot when accelerating also engine shudders when its turned off. How do i check the nut on fifth gear. Box out?

No you remove the end plate on the gearbox you can do it with the box in from under ns wheel arch

If the engine is moving a lot on it's mountings, might be worth checking some of the threads about that on here.

How many miles / what year is yours?

Here's a couple that I found, all seem the be about a mounting underneath.  I thought I'd read something more recently too but can't find it at the moment.

Happy Reading! Smile
