Simple Heater question

First off ..hi

CN anyone tell me if the heater and fans only work when the engine is running ..I fitted a new radio and am worried I may have dislodged a wire as my heater o my works when engine is running but can't remember if it worked before in first or second turn of the key

Should run with ignition on,

When the dash lights come on the blower should run.

On my '04 2.0HDi the fan only comes on once the engine is started, maybe model or year dependent?

My '55 plate 1.9d van only had the fan running with engine running same with my 06 plate 1.6 Hdi M/S ......

Mine is. 2004 2.0 8v hdi, I guess it only works with engine running
