help with VIN needed

Does anyone know about VIN numbers please? When I try putting my VIN into http://www.catcar.infi or the other citroen one, it says not found. Should I be using the full 17 digits (ie VF7GJRHYK93191959) or just part of them? I've tried it in a VIN examiner page which says it's a 2009 vehicle when it's actually 2004

Is the catcar site the one for parts? I found it did not work for my VIN either. Just looked at your VIN in a couple of other sites, and like you said it shows 2009, it's always possible that PSA did not strictly follow the VIN coding, I think mines shows the wrong year too.
What is the RPO number from the driver's door pillar?

I think it's 10172 which shows a build date of 14 Sep 2004 ? Mine is July 2004, but the VIN decoder shows 2009 like yours.
