air in fuel
#1
Hi guys, can any one who has had this problem help >>>>

Right, when i start the van in the morning (1898 Dw8 W reg 2000) it starts but strugles then chugs then runs fine witha little bit if throttle, after a min or so its running fine (allday every time ) then the same the following day the same, But if i leave it Confusedillyme:for a couple of days without starting it , it struggles like mad , then starts and again after a min of white smoke and lumpyness its fine again, Ive changed the fuel fillter and the small fuel return pipes and the glow plugs, Now after reading various threads ive pumped the manual primer but it never seems to get that hard, and you can see air bubbles in the fuel line , but the mad thin is when it starts and after the 60 secs ish it runs like a dream, (173,000 miles) and you wouldnt guess that the way it drives , Someone must have had this problem and resolved it

Hi guys , well tried all of the checks that were surgested, and still the same, AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH
ITs gona be a large hammer next if i cant sort this, winter is coming and its bound to let me down ,, Thanks All

A few things to check:?!

Fuel filter housing: Drain valve can leak air, check tighness, as can priming bulb/button itself and the lid can be incorrectly seated on the housing/ seals perished or trapped.

Try parking van sloping downhill for a day or so and check engine bay for any fuel leaks/ damp patches where air could be entering.

Try giving the fuel tank a good thump to disurb any trapped air and then drain and re prime the fuel system. This last solution cured the problems I had with my van, after changing the injector leak off pipes.

Good luck and let us know how you go!!

If at first you don't succeed, destroy all evidence that you tried.
