I have a single bed unit. I have seen on Youtube comments about the need for holes in the ply base to ventilate and stop dampness from body warmth getting into the bedding. I have not noticed this myself- is it a good idea and worth doing. I use a Duvalay in mine.

Yes it's a good idea. We have a trailer tent and the bed is on a slatted base and if the slats are left out there is condensation under it in the morning from body heat.
So where does this bit go then ?

Get some holesaws on the job, drill through twice then join them together with the jigsaw or a router.

I made holes with a holesaw and then joined them up into slots with a jigsaw.

I think it depends on what you're using as a mattress. For example, an airbed made of plastic probably won't benefit from vent holes in the base, but a foam mattress probably will.
This year, I've been using a folding bed frame with springs & steel links etc on a wooden frame, with a single foam mattress on top, must say that it's been the best bed ever in a van.
