Grizz' Prozac for the Soul - Berlingo Multispace
Have you done much arc welding ? It's not as forgiving as mig and does the chassis need gusseting any signs of stress or cracking of the original ?
So where does this bit go then ?

I used to only arc weld before Mig.

Deep penetration and more metal deposited fast for me.

No cracking.

But why wait as its original motor was a 1600 Pinto.

This is in part future in case it ends up with a more lively 200bhp 1800cc MX5 engine later.

Cool tools are always useful.

Cleaned off the primer where the welds will go.

Ready.

Go……….

And David took a couple of pics and a short clip of the welding when I was not swearing.

Surprisingly easy welding when all the settings are right.

Next job, clean up welds, burned primer and paint work with  primer.

Hammerite later today hopefully.

Colour…….?

Powerfile is a brilliant tool, mine has been used for everything from trimming welds to making knives and shaping handles. Some jobs I just can't do without one. I got some Zirconia belts for metalwork they wear a lot slower than al ox.  I built a Locost from scratch, went for SVA in 2000. It's in the Netherlands somewhere now.
So where does this bit go then ?

Site wouldn't let me add a picture from my drive, try again. It's the only one I could find on there. It was 2.0ltr Pinto powered Sierra 5 speed box, went quite well.

I have a pair of RX8 seats in red n black.

The drivers side is filled with motors and actuators etc. All sorts of adjustments possible.

I would love to get rid of it in exchange for a matched passenger item.

Question is:

Any groups out there where I can try trade my drivers side for a passenger seat?

The set I have.

Mine was so cheap.

Love it in all applications.

Need to buy a couple of cordless tools.

Drill and impact wrench.

I can imagine it went very well.

Remember my friend on the nearby farm whonwas building a Rolls Royce based, Jaguar engined Deusenberg replica.

He was really driven to get it out and running before winter.

Got this video from him on Sunday.

I would say that equates to success.

Silent runner.

So after work last night I put in about 90 minutes of focussed work.

Got it this far.

Other side.

Then could not resist adding the steel wheels I bought for it a year ago.

They are 15 inch, and really wide.

It is tracking wide, and once on the road, the camber, castor, tracking will be set professionally.

Wheels make me happy.

The difference currently between the old FWD 16’s snd steel 15’s is about 3” which translates to a real world 1.5” lowering on the wheels, we will see where a higher, wider tyre takes us when the new tyres are fitted much later.

These are stupidly stretched, so it will all change.

Callipers need rebuilding or replacing if I find them too damaged to rebuild, which is very possible.

But thinking of high heat orange on the callipers once cleaned up, to go with the poly bushes

Last thing at this point…….

Remember we had a discussion around the bump stops before.

Having had FWD alloys fitted, it looked pretty crowded.

Now with the adapters, and a 5mm spacer plate (though I really want them at 10mm) fitted, the picture looks a load healthier.

I think once it gets loaded up, things will continue to look just fine.

Been down at the Thames river for a walk and driftwood scavenge, so not started on the next bit of this build.

Be there in a bit though.

Coffee next.
